Better wetsuits for little humans. Better choices for the big planet they're inheriting.
Every piece of Avaly swimwear is made from plant-based Yulex rubber — not petroleum neoprene — because we believe kids deserve gear that protects them and the ocean they're jumping into. Founded on Sydney's Northern Beaches, Avaly is Australia's first neoprene-free kids' wetsuit brand.
From Frustrated Mum to Wetsuit Maker
Here's the thing about being a mum on Sydney's Northern Beaches: your kids are going to live in wetsuits. Like, October through April, minimum. Probably also in the bath. Possibly to bed.
So when Alyssa Curtis — Avaly founder, Northern Beaches local, and mum of two — went looking for a kids' wetsuit that was actually sustainable, she hit a wall. Every option was made from neoprene, which is essentially petroleum rubber. The cute ones were toxic. The eco ones looked like bin bags.
So she did the very reasonable thing and started her own swimwear brand. What started as one frustrated mum's side project is now an award-winning Australian swimwear brand, and the first in Australia to make kids' wetsuits entirely from Yulex natural rubber.
"I wanted to create something I'd actually want my own kids wearing — cute enough for the 'gram, tough enough for the beach, and kind enough for the planet."

What We Stand For
Planet Over Profits
We chose plant-based Yulex over cheap neoprene. We chose small batches over mass production. We chose biodegradable over convenient. Every single decision starts with one question: is this better for the planet our kids are growing up on?
Surprise & Delight
We're not here to just sell you a wetsuit. We're here to make you go oh wow when you open the box. Thoughtful packaging, unexpected little touches, and the kind of customer care that makes you feel like you're texting a friend — not a brand.
More Fun, Less Fuss
Beach days should be about belly laughs and sandcastle wars — not wrestling a screaming child into stiff neoprene. We design gear that kids actually want to put on, so you can skip the meltdown and get straight to the good bit.
The Stuff We're Made Of
Most kids' wetsuits are made from petroleum-based neoprene — basically, rubbery plastic from fossil fuels. We said no thanks to that.
AVALY wetsuits are made from Yulex, a plant-based natural rubber sourced from FSC-certified Hevea trees. It delivers the same stretch, warmth, and durability as neoprene — with 80% fewer CO₂ emissions and zero petrochemicals.
It's also naturally hypoallergenic, making it perfect for kids with sensitive skin or eczema. No chloroprene, no petroleum solvents, no worries.
How We Make Things (The Right Way)
Small Batches, Big Impact
We produce in small runs to avoid overproduction and waste. Every piece is made with intention — not just to fill shelves.

Always Learning
True sustainability is a journey. We're constantly improving our materials, processes, and packaging to reduce our footprint.
The first time she went under a wave on purpose, your heart stopped. The first time she came up laughing, it started again. That's the ocean. That's what it does. That's what it's always done. Avaly. Pass down the ocean.
